A Wee Gift To All Of You…Because.

Reblogging this when it turned up in my reader – after talking about Beethoven in my last post. This is from the 4th and last movement of Beethoven’s 9th symphony, the last symphony he composed. Written when he was almost completely deaf so he never heard it played, nor did he hear the audience’s rapturous applause after the premiere. Click ‘view original’ to hear it. And yes, you should definitely turn up the volume!

WARNING: Must NOT be played quietly! 🙂

  1. This music video has been floating around for a while. Which does not diminish it’s beauty.

The scenario is called a “flash mob”. Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, is frequently called “the Choral”. For obvious reasons. Like so many other commentators, who have called it beautiful. I too would add that sentiment. Always brings tears to my eyes. This is the one that my parakeet would sing his little heart out to. It obviously evokes some sort of primal chord? The night of the Proms, that includes this piece. Is always one of the better ones. Cheers Jamie.
