Manx Loaghton and Brahms

Almost every day that we pass Langley Chase farm on our way up the hill, we stop at the gate to look at the sheep and lambs.  Whether they’re munching the grass, nuzzling one another, lambs skipping with all 4 of their legs off the ground at once, or just looking back at us – we never get fed up of seeing them. A rare breed, Manx loaghton, they are dark brown, particularly when lambs or just after being shorn. The rams were in the field closest to us today. Their fearsome horns, some of which are broken from fighting, are in stark contrast to their gentle, friendly faces and calm ways. Earlier in the year Emily and I were plotting to abduct one of the lambs, to keep at home in our garden, but I suppose we’d better not.
A little music, a favourite of mine…
